Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost?

Our installers usually charge in the region of £40-80 per square metre installed depending on the grass chosen and the nature of the job. Our sales team and approved installers can highlight the differences in how we quote compared to competitors. We sell our grass based on density of the coverage of the grass itself, the fact that we are the only company selling polyurethane backed grass. At present you cannot get a direct comparison as other companies are using old latex backed products.

What is the benefit of Polyurethane versus latex backed grass?

Polyurethane backed grass has a variety of advantages. Latex absorbs liquid so is more likely to retain odours such as pet urine but is also more susceptible in more extreme whether conditions such as freexing temperatures.

Where can the grass be used?

Artificial grass has many  applications. The most common uses are for lawns, dog runs, and putting greens. We also make artificial grass for golf tee lines, playgrounds, swimming pool surrounds, traffic medians, patios & balconies, indoor & outdoor sports fields, retail displays, tennis courts and many more. If you only need a smaller piece of artificial grass for a project check we often have remnants that are available for sale.

What is the life expectancy of ProGreen Artifical Grass™?

Our artificial grass comes with a limited 8-year warranty, but the actual life expectancy is approximately 25 years depending on use. Additionally, we are the only company to offer a 3rd party insured warranty for artificial grass.

Is the sun harmful to ProGreen Synthetic Grass™, will it fade?

No. Having full control of production we ensure we don't use a topical UV treatment, our fibres have built-in UV Inhibitors that we mix into the fibre/yarn resin. Turf made outside of the USA may often have insufficient UV protection that can cause the fibres to break down prematurely. All ProGreen™ turf is made from the highest-quality materials from our plants in the USA. We have projects that we installed in the late 1980s that have no discernible signs of fading.

In very rare instances in the USA we have found Energy Efficient Windows can cause magnified reflections that may cause synthetic turf to melt if it is in the direct path of that reflection. The magnification from some Energy Efficient Windows is so powerful that it can melt sprinkler heads, kiddie pools, and other plastics. If you do have Energy Efficient Windows, call the manufacture and ask them how to remedy this problem. Tinting the windows is usually sufficient.

How does ProGreen Synthetic Grass™ affect the environment?

Many people, including ourselves, are worried about the environment so it is a question that is often asked however, ProGreen Synthetic Grass™ is environmentally friendly: It eliminates the need for water. It also eliminates the need for harmful chemicals that leach into the soil (fertilizers, pesticides, weed kill, etc.) Additionally ProGreen Synthetic Grass™ is recyclable and is available with an eco-friendly infill material.

What about pets? What happens to dog urine and waste?

Dogs love our grass, they think it's real! Dog urine is not a problem as it flushes through the turf's drainage holes and drainage system when hosed off or when it rains. Solid waste is cleaned in the same manner as natural grass. ProGreen Synthetic Grass™ will not stain. For heavy usage areas, such as dog kennels and doggy day care facilities, we use a different aggregate blend for the base below the artificial grass. If dogs try to dig up the grass we can install additional staking to prevent this form having an affect.

What about drainage?

Drainage through artifcial grass is very similar to natural grass. ProGreen Synthetic Grass™ has perforated holes in the backing that allow water to drain into the blended rock base below the artificial turf. Different blends of crushed rock are used for different applications, depending on permeability needs. You will be able to use an artificial grass installation after rain long before you will be able to on natural grass.

How do I choose which type of ProGreen Synthetic Grass™ is best for my needs?

A ProGreen™ representative can help you choose the right type of synthetic grass for you. The numbers in the names of our artificial grass for lawns refers to the density/thickness of the product - the higher the number the thicker the product. This compares to other companies who will focus on the length of grass which can lead to issues. Longer grass with less density will wear out quicker.

What type of maintenance should I expect with ProGreen Synthetic Grass™?

An occasional brooming may be needed to stand the grass fibres up is recommended but not necessary. Debris like leaves and twigs can be easily removed with a leaf blower.
